Joey Prescott is entering his tenth year of teaching and currently serves as the Assistant Band Director at Moseley Middle School in Prosper ISD. Before joining Prosper, he spent nine successful years at Colleyville Middle School in GCISD, where he directed the Symphonic Band, assisted with the Honors and Concert Bands, and taught Beginner Brass classes.
During his time at Colleyville, Joey helped lead his students to exceptional achievements—including three TMEA Honor Band Finalist submissions (2019, 2022, 2024). Under his guidance, the Colleyville Middle School Band also performed at the prestigious 2018 Midwest Clinic and consistently earned UIL Sweepstakes awards. Beyond the band hall, Joey has been teaching private lessons, masterclasses, and marching band since 2008, working with students across San Antonio, Austin, and the Dallas–Fort Worth area. Many of his students have gone on to earn placements in all-region, all-area, and all-state ensembles.
Joey holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s Degree from Texas Christian University, where he served as the Graduate Assistant for the Trombone Studio. His time in the UT Trombone Choir also took him abroad to perform in France, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, and Spain—an experience he still considers one of the highlights of his musical journey.
As a freelance trombonist, Joey has performed with ensembles such as the Vintage 15 Big Band, Vendetta Big Band, Round Rock Symphony, San Antonio Wind Symphony, San Pedro Playhouse Pit Orchestra, Northeast Orchestra–Hurst, Frisco Jazz Band, Slideshow Trombone Choir, and the Dallas Millennial Choir Orchestra. He is also a member of TMEA, TBA, and the International Trombone Association.
Joey brings an energetic teaching style and deep expertise across the entire Brass Family—Trombone, Trumpet, Tuba, Euphonium, and French Horn. His balanced approach of enthusiasm and professionalism empowers students of all ages to build strong fundamentals, confidence, and a lifelong love of music.
