Robin Massie knew from an early age that she wanted music to be an integral part of her life. She began piano lessons at age 8, and pipe organ lessons at age 15. She spent her school years playing for weddings, recitals, competitions, church services, and community theater events. Accompanying church choirs, school choirs, vocal recitals, instrumental soloists, and ensemble groups has been a big part of her career. Mrs. Massie has also sung with numerous choirs, as a member and as a soloist, throughout her entire life. She has led several children’s choirs, and believes that everyone can, and should, “make a joyful noise unto the Lord!”
She was inducted into Mu Phi Epsilon, a professional music fraternity, during her senior year of college, and had the privilege of being a featured piano soloist with her College-Community Orchestra that same year. She graduated from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music.
After graduation and marriage, she began a teaching career that included private piano lessons, small classroom groups, and being a homeschool educator to her three children. Robin firmly believes that every serious student of music will eventually discover their unique gifting. She feels that most aspects of music can be taught to anyone, but as their education progresses you will begin to see areas in which they excel. She has found it very rewarding to see what emerges as the “rough stone” is polished with training and encouragement along the way. You will find Robin’s personality upbeat and patient as she brings out the best in each of her students!
