Getting accepted into a college music program is a huge accomplishment β but many students are surprised by how challenging first-year Music Theory and Aural Skills classes can be.
Intro to College-Level Music Theory & Aural Skills is designed specifically to help bridge the gap between high school music training and the expectations of a collegiate music program. Many first-year music majors enter college without formal theory or ear training experience, and these courses quickly become some of the most demanding classes in their schedule.
This camp gives students a head start.
Led by Professor Brian Sanders, who has taught both Music Theory and Aural Skills at the University of North Texas and Dallas Baptist University, students will gain practical, hands-on experience with the exact types of skills they will be expected to demonstrate in their first semester of college.
Rather than feeling overwhelmed in the fall, campers will walk onto campus already familiar with the language, structure, and listening skills that form the foundation of college-level music study.

Every artist has a story to tell.
Songwriting Camp is designed for middle and high school students who are ready to explore their creativity, develop their voice, and learn how to turn ideas into powerful original music.
Over four immersive afternoons, campers will dive into the craft of songwriting β from lyrical storytelling and emotional authenticity to melody creation, chord progressions, and song structure. Students will learn how their favorite songs are built and then apply those same techniques to create music of their own.
This camp is perfect for singers, instrumentalists, producers, and creative writers who want to go beyond playing other peopleβs music and start creating something uniquely theirs.
Led by Tyler Ross, students will be guided through a supportive and inspiring creative process that encourages risk-taking, collaboration, and artistic confidence.
By the end of the week, campers will walk away with:
- At least one fully written original song (or a strong draft in progress)
- Clear understanding of verse/chorus/bridge song structure
- Tools for writing stronger lyrics
- Strategies for overcoming writerβs block
- Greater confidence sharing their work
- Creative momentum heading into the school year
